Name

hey guys,

all we need is a team name to send out to clients, so postage your ideas and we'll take a vote! Also was trying to see where charities would fit into the criteria of what type of design brief we can get - so maybe a publishing house or something like that would be better - i also like christina's idea of targetting something fashion related, or even just shop related and designing the shop front, layouts etc - that would fit in with the list uni have put on the letter!

I'm gonna brainstorm now and the will post ideas......

Ok thought I would have a route through my thesaurus on some of the words that can come from the phrase 5 finger discount

- Price cut
- Rebate
- Pinch of salt
-Markdown
_ digit
- Thumb
- Forefinger
- Pinkie
- Point the finger
- Squeal on

They are just a step away from the phrase. Mostly rubbish, tho I do quite like "a pinch of salt"

But i do really like Sormi its works because its not an english word therefore it becomes more of a name

Hello, is this a stupid question but what is the finnish word for 'fingers'? is it any different 'finger'?
what is finnish for 'five finger discount'? or Greek? Ancient Greek is beautiful.

can we mix languages?

Sormi does sound very unique, which will make our group stand out from the rest.
Good thinking everyone.

daktilo is the finger.
daktiliko apotipoma is fingerprint (used in paspports, investigation...)
i'll ask for the ancient greek my grand father who knows perfectly (he can speak in ancient!)
ancient greek could be interesting visually cause of all the accents one word takes.

i think i would prefer english though, it is understoud faster and we could play and be different visually. finish or greek would be different but only because they are different languages. i don't think having to explaine what our name means would be the best idea.

five finger facility what about that? i still prefer pete's one though.

i'll try to post visuals for tommorrow

sormi is pronounced like "sori-me"
sormi is finger
sormet is fingers
(monta) sormea is many fingers
sormeni is my fingers

i dont think there is a direct tarnslation for five finger discount, "näpistely" is shoplifting
