I'm happy with how this logo works, like it most from the one's that i've made. I haven't heard from you so can't really say anything yet. I'm off tomorrow I'll talk to you in about one week's time, nik.

on the letter to client it says that we need to source a brief from one of the following :
advertising company
broadcasting company
design group
manufacturing company
marketing company
new media company
national retailer
printing trade company
publisher
charities are not on the list and it is a bit weird because all companies are associated with graphic design somehow. are we not supposed to act as a design group ourselves or should ask briefs from relevant companies so we can ask them for advice (in management) as well?
I would also think appropriate to send the letter to all the companies that have participated before, ther eis a list on the letter. they might have good experience and want to do it again.

hey nik - sorry if i've been quiet, but looks great what you've done so far! i really like the logo with the type in the hands but think the name should be something else? i like the idea of five finger discount!
I got a letter from uni today saying all about our dissertation and communicating with our group to get a brief asap....
i agree with all your points and think we can start with the list of people on the letter - but i've hopefully got somework eperience with hub+ advertising company in a few weeks so can ask them too if we've had no joy in a brief by then, but fingers crossed we will!!

Nik, awesome work there. Really like the look and movement of the logo.
The 'five finger discount' am i being a bit thick but what does the discount mean? what does it have to do with our group? (dont get me wrong, its a really snappy name) i would just love to hear someones interpretation of it.
Oooo i aint got that letter yet. Has anyone heard from any other groups about how they are getting on?

five finger discount means shoplifiting...
i think some groups will not have contacted people yet due to travelling - i know some people have gone away for the whole of august! but i've heard some groups have started to contact people - but thats to be expected...
The only thing im not so sure of with the five finger discount is that it does mean shoplifting, but what that may imply for prospective clients - whether they will have a decent sense of humour or not? or do we want to be a tongue in cheek kinda group?
We really need to send off these letters - i know nik is away but i think that by next week - when he's back we need to just take a vote and then send off the letters, otherwise im not so sure if we'll get a response in time? and i dunno about you guys, but i dont fancy starting the 3rd year stressed!! haha

hey guys! just to let you know, i will be on a small island off the coast of finland from tomorrow onwards until the 14th august, so cannot really access the internet! i have a few ideas of design groups/ad agencies we could send the letters to: peepshow collective (www.peepshow.com), we are fallon- ad agency (www.fallon.co.uk/) garudio studiage- design collective that does screenprinting etc, one of the tutors from fpi is part of it (www.garudiostudiage.com/)
i think we should also try shops like selfridges, could be interesting..... will try to think of more places, but my computer with design group favourites/links is at home :(
as i will be away, i trust you guys to pick the logodesign and name, you dont have to wait for me to vote. im sure whatever you pick will be amazing!

oh! forgot to add, if worst comes to worse we can always get a brief from lazy oaf- www.lazyoaf.co.uk (would be to promote and organise their halloween party.. :D) i did work experience there and she said we're welcome to do it if we want.. hehehe

you have to sign in (blogger.com, you should all have been invited by char- as authors on this blog-, find a link on the emails she's sent you) and when you go to make a new post there will be a little picture sign on top of the area that you type the message. you click on it and you can choose either to upoload a pic from your computer or to type a link from a pic that you have online. you click on upload...

i uploaded them on youtube (have to have an acount there as well), copied the embeded code and just pasted it on the message area.
if you don't have accounts, please sign up, it would be MARVELLOUS if everyone was posting stuff online!
